With Instagram (the popular photo-sharing app) becoming available for Android phone users (finally), I figured I’d see what the hype was about.

Twitter has obviously been a great way to communicate with you all, and some of you reading this arrived here directly via that means, but Instagram, even in 2 days has already  proven to be a different kind of interactive experience. And a welcome one at that.

Having our ‘followers’ comment on our pictures, gives us a greater sense of what you actually feel which is a lot more of a detailed feedback than a ‘retweet’. If you like something, at least now you can tell us AND start discussion with other people who may like it. I can feel the vibes :)

Expect behind the scenes shots of our videos, photo shoots, day-to-day adventures, and general freshness.

A moment at Kazmattazz

Kazmattazz is a shop long associated with sneaker culture here in London and finally the Brick Lane branch stocks Shoeture! I popped in on a sunny Thursday afternoon to do a quick demo and dress some shoes.

Sneakers and independant clothing labels are the bread and butter of the Kazmattaz stores (The original branch is in nearby Hoxton Square), but I was pleasantly surprised to hear Kaz’s collection of classic 90′s hip hop playing instore.

Woah.

Showbiz & A.G.. The Bush Babees, Fu-Schnikens and everyone in between can be heard halfway up Brick Lane, and you will KNOW when you are nearing the shop..

…in case the big sign wasn’t indication enough, heh.

Move It 2012 in images (Find yourself!)

Our second exhibition this year was at the amazing ‘Move It’ show. The pictures will do the talking!

Thank you to everyone that came through the stand and got busy with us. We were joined by a number of dance glitterati including Kymberlee Jay, Tashan Muir, Ben ‘Free to Dance’ Hammond and many more. Other notable faces were Eastender’s Matt Lapinskas and our first European brand ambassador, Alex Saidac. You can hear Alex’s vocals on our Shoeberia video.

Special thanks have to go out to the team of Matt, Simon, Renata, Nanette, Daniq and Taz without whom the magic could not have been achieved. Further thanks to Owen, Doc and Princeton for their parts played.

Exhibition diary 4: The setup

Exhibition Diary 3: Onwards to Move It dance show

Crepe City was a smash and now we’re moving on up to Move It later this week. 3 full days with 25000+ dance enthusiasts – this could be fun, ha. A little reminder of Crepe City should allude to what’s in store at Move It

 

 

Props to Loose Wires own, Superfly, for coming through, providing a couple of the shots above AND holding down the strong toprock solo in the video you just watched. In the picture above, Superfly rocks Nike Royals with limited edition violet Shoeture Hooks. The boy done good.

Exhibitions Diary 2: ‘Prep City’

Things are heating up here at HQ. With Crepe City finally arriving today (see previous post), I thought it was important to get a ‘uniform’ so that the general public could spot us easily.

I was tempted to model it for your viewing pleasure but figured I’d leave that to ‘Ten’ (who you’ll meet at Crepe City) or ’1-Girl’ (see video below). They’re the pros :)

Having a look around Oxford Street it became apparent that advertising IN the store is just as important as OUT, so we got these sexy ‘strut cards’ printed to decorate our table.

Fingers crossed, they’ll light the place up!

Might be worth mentioning we’re running 2 competitions at Crepe City. 1 prize is some Shoeture merchandise and the other is 2 free tickets to our exhibition NEXT week, ‘Move It’. Be sure to visit us at Crepe City to be in with a chance of winning.

Since introducing Shoeture to the UK late last summer I’ve been fortunate enough to attend some pretty interesting events. Fashion parties, album launches and a foot-fetishists gathering* (honestly) have all at some point fought for attention on my calendar.

Attending these events and meeting so many interesting people has been a real eye-opener in many ways, since I had no real ‘fashion retail’ experience, but it seems I’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg.

Turns out there are events IDEAL for Shoeture! I decided we had to be a part of Crepe City and Move It.

Crepe City is the UK’s most celebrated sneaker fair, and is held at Bar Music Hall in the Shoreditch area of east London.

Footwear enthusiasts from around Europe are expected to attend in search of rare and exclusive kicks, and discover upcoming street labels. In some ways, Crepe City is also a bit of an art gallery, as you will be wowed by some of the bespoke footwear on display. It’s not unusual to see people cram their foot into something a half-size too small, but you’re just as likely to find the shoe of your dreams!

Come visit our table and leave with something shiny :)

Our second upcoming exhibition is a completely different prospect. ‘Move It‘ is the UK’s largest dance exhibition and is held at Kensington Olympia over 3 full days, expecting 25k+ guests.

Performances, workshops, battles and shopping are among numerous activities to experience on the weekend of March 9-11, and we (plus our stand partners, B-Better) look forward to meeting some of the lovely public. SuperMalcom Shines in Shoeture

If you are a fan of the ‘Got To Dance’ TV show, you would have been glued to the box on Sunday to see the live semi-final featuring Antics, Lil Hustlers and a special performance by Diversity.

As supporters of the underground dance scene, we were PUMPED to see London-based hiphop legend, Supermalcom, in the live semi-final, wearing Shoeture!

The ‘Gold Hooks’ Supermalcom is wearing can be purchased here, but first we should savour the highlights of the performance that seriously moved the crowd!

Shoeture Models desired!

We’re looking for aspiring models with these criteria:

1) Interesting faces. If you think people will look at you twice, for whatever reason, apply.

2) Good sense of colour / style. If you don’t know whether you can dress well or not, please do not apply. If you can rock colour confidently, we can talk!

3) Interest in sneaker culture / frequent wearer / collector. If you never wear sneakers or wouldn’t wear sneakers after the shoot, please do not apply. We are hoping to find strong brand ambassadors who we may use again in future.

4) Physically fit. Whether we choose to agree or not, sneakers are, essentially, sportswear. On our shoots we may want to capture movement and if you can’t jump / touch your toes / other normal physical act, please don’t embarrass yourself or us by applying. You wont be running laps, but basic physical ability is, let’s face it, attractive.

If you are based in UK and willing to travel to London in Mid-February, please email shoetureuk@gmail.com with at least one picture, and explain why you would like to do this shoot. Shooting on Saturday 11th February.
